The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled a trans-border drug cartel and seized 190,960 Tramadol pills. Four suspects were arrested in coordinated operations across multiple states.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi stated that agents intercepted a Sienna bus (registration ABJ 452 HG) on the Nasarawa-Toto road in Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday, January 27, 2025, at 6:00 AM. The bus contained concealed steel compartments holding the Tramadol.
The seizure led to the arrest of Kingsley Mbaeri, a dealer based in Onitsha, who was identified as the supplier. Authorities recovered two vehicles from Mbaeri’s residence. Further operations resulted in arrests in Cross River, Lagos, and Taraba states.
The NDLEA also seized other illicit substances, including methamphetamine, Loud, and skunk, during related raids. No specific quantities besides the tramadol were provided.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, commended the officers involved. He also highlighted the agency’s ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, which includes sensitization lectures and advocacy nationwide. The seized Tramadol represents a significant blow to illegal drug distribution networks. The investigation is ongoing.
