New Afenifere Chairman Oba Olu Falae Prioritises Restructuring

AKURE – The Pan Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, named Oba Olu Falae its new Afenifere chairman. Oba Falae is the Olu of Ilu-Abo and a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation. He now heads Afenifere’s National Executive Committee.

The decision came from Afenifere’s monthly meeting. The meeting was at the Akure home of its national leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti. National Publicity Secretary Jare Ajayi said Pa Fasoranti personally made the appointment. This action aims to strengthen the group’s leadership.

Ajayi stated, “Oba Falae’s appointment aims to reinvigorate the organisation.” He added the goal is “ensuring that the House of Oduduwa is back on track to project the Yoruba mandate.” This signals a clear focus for Afenifere.

Afenifere Restructuring: A National Priority

During the meeting, Afenifere strongly renewed its call for the Afenifere restructuring of Nigeria. The group said restructuring is key to solving Nigeria’s serious challenges. Afenifere cited growing insecurity and systemic national problems.

“After thoroughly examining these issues, we have concluded that the most potent means of tackling the challenges is Restructuring,” Ajayi stated. Afenifere called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly. The group urged them to quickly start the restructuring process to secure Nigeria’s future.

Oba Olu Falae Afenifere: Focus on Unity

The new Afenifere chairman, Oba Olu Falae, responded to his appointment. He thanked Pa Fasoranti. He also vowed to unite different factions within Afenifere.

“By the grace of God and with the support of Afenifere and the Yoruba nation, we will succeed in bringing the other groups, everybody together,” Oba Olu Falae stated. He stressed the urgent need for reconciliation. “I intend to do all I can to bring all factions of Afenifere together in Papa’s lifetime,” he added.

Apagun Kole Omololu, Afenifere’s National Organizing Secretary, also showed confidence. He believes Oba Olu Falae Afenifere’s leadership can heal internal divisions. He expects Falae to reposition Afenifere for greater impact.
