Nigeria-China Summit to Boost Bilateral Trade

Abuja – Nigeria and China aim to strengthen economic ties, as highlighted at the Nigeria-China Bilateral Business, Trade, and Investment Summit 2025 unveiling. Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, stressed the need to modernize Nigeria’s business environment. He called for removing investment barriers and fostering innovation.

Tuggar, represented by Amb. Bolaji Alade Akinremi, said, “We must shift from outdated models to forward-thinking, technology-driven business ecosystems.”

Investment Opportunities

The summit aims to present investment opportunities, showcase market-ready projects, and foster collaboration between Nigerian and Chinese businesses. Hon Jafaru Yakubu, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Nigeria-China parliamentary relation, highlighted the importance of strengthening economic bilateral trade between the two countries.

“The Nigeria-China Relations Committee was established to acknowledge the growing influence in the global economy and its significant impact on Nigerian economic development,” Yakubu said.

China-Nigeria Partnership

Representing the Chinese Embassy, Economic and Trade Commercial Counselor Mr. Wang Ying-Ki, confirmed Nigeria’s importance. He noted Nigeria is China’s largest trade, investment, and infrastructure partner in Africa.

“The agreement they reached mobilized the business community and set a guideline for enhancing our cooperation,” Wang stated.

The summit is expected to produce a report. This report will highlight business challenges. It will also propose legislative solutions to improve the business environment for Chinese companies in Nigeria. Enhancing bilateral trade is a key focus.
