Nyesom Wike Faces Ultimatum from PANDEF Youth Wing

Abuja – The youth wing of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Minister Nyesom Wike. They demand a retraction of his recent remarks, which they consider derogatory to the Ijaw nation and PANDEF leaders.

The group is particularly offended by Wike’s comments about the late Chief Edwin Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information. Doben Donyegha, National Youth President of the group, expressed outrage, noting that Wike’s comments came less than 24 hours after a PANDEF delegation met with President Bola Tinubu.

Demands and Allegations

Donyegha condemned Wike’s description of PANDEF as “the worst organization anybody can rely on.” He also criticized Wike’s labeling of board members as “political merchants.” The youth wing called on President Tinubu to dismiss Nyesom Wike, stating they have lost confidence in him. They warned that retaining Wike could damage the President’s re-election prospects in the Niger Delta in 2027.

The youth group also called for the Code of Conduct Bureau to investigate Nyesom Wike for alleged land-grabbing in the FCT. The ultimatum highlights tensions between Wike and the Niger Delta community.

Wike also mentioned a subsequent meeting at Bukola Saraki’s Abuja home, attended by Governors Umaru Fintiri and Bala Mohammed. Key resolutions there included Senator Samuel Anyanwu remaining PDP National Secretary and the withdrawal of all Rivers State legal cases. […]
