Mudashiru Obasa, the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has resumed his role. He led a session with four other members.
Security personnel opened the doors to the chamber. Over 26 other members did not enter. They support the current Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.
He claims his removal was not legal. He said due process was not followed. “Impeachment or removal is democratic, but you must follow due process,” he stated. He believes he is still the rightful Speaker.
The dispute over Obasa’s return continues. He was removed on January 13 while abroad. Mojisola Meranda replaced him.
Impact on Lagos Assembly Remains Unclear
