IJEBU-ODE, OGUN STATE – Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State called the Ojude Oba Festival a key driver for the local economy and global recognition. Speaking at the 2025 event in Ijebu-Ode, Abiodun said his administration is committed to using cultural heritage for public benefit.
He linked the festival to the state’s “Building Our Future Together” development agenda, describing it as “a vibrant fulcrum of our culture—our pride, our values, and our continuity.”
Festival’s Role in Unity and Tradition
Governor Abiodun also highlighted the Ojude Oba Festival‘s role in creating social unity and cultural strength. He called the event “a living heritage that strengthens cultural roots and offers direction in a world marked by increasing social fragmentation.”
He praised the festival’s peaceful mix of religion, tradition, and modernity. “This year’s theme, Celebrating Our Roots, Preserving Our Future, captures the very essence of this gathering,” Abiodun noted. He urged stakeholders to expand the Ojude Oba Festival to meet growing interest from young people in Nigeria and abroad.
A Model for National Development
Other officials noted the festival’s national importance. Ondo State Deputy Governor Olayide Adelani praised the Ojude Oba Festival for “creating jobs, promoting peace, and attracting foreign investment.” He called culture “a dynamic vehicle that drives economic growth.”
The Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Hon. Hanatu Musa, also spoke on using regional heritage for national development. “Ogun holds a significant place in Nigeria’s history through its contributions from illustrious sons and daughters,” she said. Musa expressed confidence that the festival will continue to grow as a global tourist destination.
