Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar accused President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to undermine democracy. Abubakar made this statement on Monday, referencing recent political events in Osun and Lagos states.
Abubakar called the events a “display of lawlessness.” He claimed the APC tried to take over local government offices violently in the Osun Crisis. He also alleged the APC used state security for political intimidation.
Abubakar commended Osun residents for resisting what he described as an attempt to “seize control.” He criticized the APC leadership for its silence.
“The people of Osun resisted. Without their resistance, democracy in the state would have been trampled,” he said. He cautioned security agencies to stay professional. He said they should not be used for oppression.
Abubakar called on Nigerians to be alert and to protect democracy. He described the current administration’s actions using strong words.
