Osun NURTW Reinstated: Government Scraps Park Management System

Big news for Osun State’s transport sector! The state government has officially ended the Park Management System. This significant change comes right after the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) welcomed its new state leaders. Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, the union’s national president, oversaw the induction of the new team. With the Osun NURTW reinstated, many are hopeful for a new era of peace and stability.

Back in January 2023, Governor Ademola Adeleke had initially removed the NURTW. He replaced it with the Osun Transport Management System (OSTMS), headed by Wakeel Nurudeen. But now, the OSTMS is out, and the government is clear: they’re prioritising peace and unity in the state.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke made a direct swap. OSTMS is out, and NURTW is back,” explained Sesan Oyedele, Commissioner for Transportation. “This move demonstrates his commitment to bringing harmony to the transportation sector.”

Oyedele added that the governor urged the newly appointed leaders to lead with respect and humility.

Osun NURTW Reinstated: A Fresh Start for Transport?

The National President of NURTW, Comrade Musiliu Akinsanya, expressed his gratitude to Governor Adeleke. He particularly praised the governor’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure, a key factor for economic growth. The reinstatement of the Osun NURTW underscores the government’s dedication to a unified transport system.

The newly elected NURTW chairman, Comrade Wakeel Nurudeen Oluronbi, also acknowledged the government’s crucial role in bringing the union together.

The shift comes on the heels of controversy surrounding the OSTMS. Reports surfaced, alleging embezzlement and heavy-handed tactics by its former chairman, Wakeel Nurudeen. The widespread feeling was that restoring the Osun NURTW was a much-needed step.

People widely see the NURTW’s return as a positive step, anticipating that it will restore order and create a more peaceful environment in the transportation sector. The Osun NURTW Reinstated initiative is now the official policy.
