Port Harcourt – Police arrested four people linked to the ritual killing of two seven-year-old children. The victims were Chizaram Onuche and Chidinma Onuche. The ritual killing happened in the Rukpokwu community. It was reported to the Rumuokoro police division. Police said the main suspect, Aniekan Uko, lured the children into an unfinished building. He sent them on an errand first. Uko drugged the children with a drink. Then he killed them and collected their blood.
Suspects Arrested
Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the arrests. “On March 23, 2025, officers arrested a native doctor and others involved,” she said. “Police recovered evidence, including a bottle with the victims’ blood.” The suspects are Aniekan Uko, 27; his girlfriend Luis Uwelemele, 19; native doctor Kingsley Opurum, 43; and Friday Silas, 47. Silas allegedly allowed use of the building for the ritual killing.
Investigation Details
Uko confessed the native doctor influenced him. The doctor said blood and body parts could bring wealth through rituals. Police found a knife, the blood bottle, an empty drink can, and a spoon. “Officers visited the crime scene. They took photos and collected more evidence,” Iringe-Koko added. Police Commissioner Olugbenga Adepoju promised justice would be served. The children’s bodies are at the mortuary for autopsy. The investigation continues.
