Police Investigate Attack on Senator’s Home in Kogi State

Lokoja – Police in Kogi State are investigating an attack on Senator’s home. The incident targeted the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Okehi Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson SP Williams Ovye-Aya announced the investigation Friday. He stated it began after a distress call from Yakubu Ovanja, an aide to the senator. Ovanja reported that armed individuals attacked the home early Tuesday morning, April 16.

Details of the Intrusion

According to the initial report, the attackers arrived around 1:00 a.m. They wielded cutlasses and damaged several windows. The intruders fled after a resident inside raised an alarm, preventing further entry. Following the report, local police officers visited the scene. They spoke with Michael Akpoti, a family member present during the attack on Senator’s home. He confirmed the attackers used cutlasses trying to force their way inside.

Official Response and Investigation

Kogi’s Police Commissioner, Miller Dantawaye, has ordered a full investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department. The directive aims to uncover the motive behind the attack on Senator’s home, identify those responsible, and ensure they face justice. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan suggested the attackers might have mistakenly believed she was present at the residence. She confirmed that swift action by security personnel and local residents repelled the assailants and that no one was injured. A formal report was filed with local police.
