Eket, Akwa Ibom – Police recovered an AK-47 rifle hidden in an uncompleted building in Eket, Akwa Ibom State,The discovery occurred behind Heritage Polytechnic, Ikot Udota, in the Eket Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the recovery. The AK-47, along with an empty magazine, was found concealed within black cult regalia.
“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives conducted a search operation,” John stated. She indicated the weapon was likely hidden by criminals planning illegal activities.
The police action prevented potential threats to the community. Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to public safety.
“Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible,” John added. She encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity to the police. The recovery of the AK-47 highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to curb criminal activity in the state.
