Awka, Anambra State – Anambra State Police are actively working to recapture two escaped suspects linked to the murder of Justice Azuka. Police Commissioner Ikioye Orutugu met with the State House of Assembly today, assuring lawmakers that the re-arrest of the individuals is a top priority.
“The Command is taking all necessary steps to ensure the re-arrest of the fleeing suspect and that justice will be served,” Orutugu stated. He confirmed that the escaped suspects were involved in an operation with the Police, which they used to flee.
Orutugu briefed Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze and other members, including the Majority Leader and the State Chairman of the Labour Party, on the measures taken to find the suspects. He also detailed disciplinary actions against officers involved in the escape incident.
The Anambra State Police Command previously confirmed the escape. The Command stated they are now using all available resources, including personnel, operations, and intelligence, to locate and apprehend the escaped suspects.
The meeting concluded with a one-minute silence in honor of the late Justice Azuka. The police assurance came after the command had confirmed that the suspect had escaped from custody when helping them to arrest a reciever of stolen cars.
