Shock Orji Kalu Donation: Millions to Obasanjo & PDP

ABUJA – Senator Orji Uzor Kalu stated he gave over $1 million to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and N500 million to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998. Kalu, a former Abia State Governor, made this donation claim on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

“I gave President Olusegun Obasanjo over $1 million. I gave the party (PDP) over N500 million to start the party,” Kalu said, noting the dollar was then $84. He explained few, like TY Danjuma and Atiku Abubakar, could financially back the PDP at its start, highlighting his  donation.

Kalu: End Political Insults, Seek Dialogue

Kalu criticized public insults among political leaders. He urged an end to divisive talk. “All this abusing Tinubu, abusing Orji Kalu, abusing Atiku Abubakar, abusing Amaechi should stop,” he said. Kalu stressed that leaders should talk. “We should sit down as a family, talk about the needs of Nigerian people and deliver to them,” Kalu proposed.

Focus on Nigerians’ Welfare, Kalu Urges

Kalu voiced concern over economic hardship for Nigerians. He said governance should prioritize citizen welfare over political fights.

“I’m more anxious to see Nigerians eating three meals a day, going on good roads, going to good train stations…working in a decent factory and making decent money,” he stated. Kalu believes Nigeria needs collective action, not bickering, following his donation disclosure.
