Singer Portable Remanded in Ilorin Prison : Over Defamation Charge

ILORIN, Kwara State – Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, is currently held at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin.

A judge ordered his remand following a court appearance Monday.

He faces a defamation charge filed by fellow musician Akorede Saheed, also known as Saheed Osupa.

The charge results from comments he allegedly made against Saheed Osupa.

The Upper Area Court granted Portable bail for N1 million.

However, Portable did not meet the specific conditions required for his release.

Bail required two sureties: one leader from the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (Chairman or Secretary).

The second surety needed to own property in Ilorin’s Government Reserved Area (GRA) with official proof of ownership (Certificate of Occupancy).

He could not provide these sureties.

He will remain in the correctional facility until the bail conditions are met or the court issues a new order.
