Ilorin – The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) is investing N10 billion to implement mechanised farming across Nigerian universities. This investment supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and addresses food insecurity. The plan utilizes large, unused land areas on university campuses for modern agriculture.
Boosting Food Security with Mechanised Farming
Nurudeen Adeyemi, a TETFund Board of Trustees member (North-central zone), highlighted the available land. “University is one of the areas where the federal government has a huge expanse of land that can be cultivated that is also secured,” Adeyemi stated. Funding for the mechanised farming project is budgeted. It will start after preliminary processes are finished. Adeyemi noted TETFund supports government initiatives in education, health, and agriculture, including this push for mechanised farming.
Supporting Medical Training
Adeyemi also announced TETFund financed the purchase of cadavers. This funding supports simulation training for medical students and health professionals. He shared this information at the 10th strategic media seminar in Ilorin, organized by the Nigerian Media Parliament and the NUJ Sobi FM Chapel.
