Tinubu Hosts Ramadan Iftar: Unity Meal Amid Political Storms

Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shared an Iftar dinner at the State House on Monday. Governors, ministers, and agency leaders gathered for the Ramadan meal, a moment of unity during turbulent times.

Rivals at the Table

The presence of Rivers Governor Sim Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike sparked chatter. Their ongoing feud in Rivers State has been making headlines. Just recently, the Supreme Court sided with Speaker Martins Amaewhule, a Wike ally, reinstating 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike who’d left the PDP. Despite the political tensions, Governor Fubara extended an olive branch, inviting the lawmakers to discuss the court’s decision.

A Show of Solidarity

The dinner wasn’t just about mending fences. Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila also attended, alongside governors from states like Abia, Akwa Ibom, and Kano. Key figures from national agencies, including the heads of the Hajj Commission and Customs, joined the event. Even top executives from the oil and gas sector were present. The Iftar served as a platform for dialogue, showing a united front despite the challenges facing the nation. It was a reminder that even amidst political storms, common ground can be found.
