Two Dead After Rival Cult Clash in Anambra

Nkwelle-Ezunaka – Two individuals have died following a violent cult clash in Anambra. The deadly confrontation occurred between the rival Black Axe and Eiye confraternities in the Nkwelle-Ezunaka area of Oyi Local Government Area. The violence is linked to a long-standing rivalry between the two groups.

Shootout Leads to Arrest

The feud erupted into a shootout, leaving two dead and several others injured. Police operatives swiftly responded and arrested one suspected member of the Black Axe group after the incident. Police sources indicate the suspect confessed to his involvement in the cult clash in Anambra and provided names of other members. The suspect, who reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle, claimed the Eiye group intends to continue the violence. Fear following the clash has reportedly caused some cult members to flee the state.

Community Gripped by Fear

While the official Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochuckwu Ikenga, has not yet been fully briefed, a senior police source confirmed the deadly cult clash in Anambra. The anonymous officer assured that police are actively investigating and working to apprehend those responsible. However, the incident has instilled significant fear within the Nkwelle-Ezunaka community, with residents becoming wary of public spaces.
