Two Kwara LGA Officials Abducted While Travelling Home

Kwara State, Nigeria – Two local government officials from Kwara State were kidnapped Friday evening while travelling. The Kwara LGA officials abducted are Elizabeth Arinde, head of the legal department for Oke Ero LGA, and Musbau Amuda, director of personnel management for Ilorin West LGA.

Details of the Abduction

The incident happened around 6 p.m. near Eleyin. Arinde and Amuda were travelling together in a vehicle from Ilofa, Oke Ero LGA’s headquarters, towards Ilorin when they were taken. This information circulated through social media posts and news reports following the event.

A relative of Ms. Arinde, speaking anonymously Sunday, confirmed the family’s distress. “We reported to the police immediately we heard,” the relative said. “We are appealing to the appropriate authorities to quickly rescue both victims.”

Anxious Wait for News

Despite the report to the police, the victims’ location remains unknown. “They said they are looking into it. But they have not been found yet,” the relative shared, reflecting the family’s anxiety. The relative confirmed Ms. Arinde was simply “coming home” when the abduction occurred.

Efforts to get an official update from Kwara State police spokesperson Ejire-Adeyemi Adetoun were unsuccessful before publication. Calls and messages went unanswered.

Family’s Heartfelt Appeals Online

The emotional strain is evident in online appeals from the family. Arinde’s son, Stephen Bamidele, posted urgent pleas on X (formerly Twitter). “Guys, abeg keep praying, reposting and tagging relevant authorities,” he urged Sunday morning. The case of the Kwara LGA officials abducted needs continued attention.

He revealed the difficulty of the situation: “Their demands are hefty, and they are putting Mum through much physical and emotional stress. She’s always crying whenever they get in touch.” In another post, he wrote, “God, please, don’t allow this woman spend another night roaming the forest… God, please bring her home safe and sound.”
