Uriah Rennie Dies: Premier League Pioneer Was 65

LONDON – Uriah Rennie, the Premier League’s first Black referee, has died at the age of 65. The Football Association (FA) confirmed his death on Sunday, calling him “a true trailblazer of the game.” The news that Uriah Rennie dies is a great loss for the football community.

Rennie officiated over 300 top-flight matches from 1997 to 2008, starting with a Derby vs. Wimbledon game. “Our thoughts are with Uriah’s family and friends at this time,” the FA Refereeing Department said.
