US Updates Visa Waiver Program for 2025: UK Access Limited, No African Countries

Washington D.C. – The United States has changed its Visa Waiver Program (VWP) for 2025. The UK is no longer fully included, and no African countries are part of the program. Romania has been added. The U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs announced these updates today.

The Visa Waiver Program lets citizens from some countries visit the U.S. for up to 90 days without a visa. They need an approved Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) instead.

The UK now has limited access to the program. The Bureau of Consular Affairs said UK citizens might still qualify, but did not give details. No African countries, like Nigeria or South Africa, are in the 2025 Visa Waiver Program.

“Travelers must have a valid ESTA approval before travel,” the Bureau said. Travelers can still apply for a regular visa if they prefer.
