Kyiv – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian soldiers died in a deadly ambush in Toretsk. The attack occurred on Easter Sunday. Zelenskyy announced the loss on his X account, calling it a tragic event for Ukraine.
Vow Following the Attack
“In the Toretsk direction, our warriors, unfortunately, were caught in a Russian attack. There are fatalities,” Zelenskyy stated. He did not specify how many soldiers perished. Despite the loss, Zelenskyy delivered a strong message. He vowed that the Russian military forces who carried out the ambush would face consequences, stating they “will be destroyed.”
Attack During Ceasefire Period
This lethal incident happened during the Easter holiday. It also occurred just days after Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced an “Easter ceasefire.” The declared ceasefire was intended to run from April 19 to April 21. The war between Ukraine and Russia has continued for over three years, causing immense loss of life.
